4. Southern Oregon

Southern Oregon is perhaps more exposed to the seasons than any other region in Oregon. Here, where deep and wide valleys line high mountains and craters, there is everything from freezing winters in snow to hot dry summers with wildfires. The region’s most famous highlight is Crater Lake National Park. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the U.S. and is considered one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon. Situated high, I have already experienced the lake in sunshine but with residual snow of 5m height in June. The national park invites to a day trip, but you can also stay longer in the Crater Lake Lodge. Besides the national park, Southern Oregon also offers wine, beer and food trails. For action adventurers, there’s rafting, zip lines and jetboats on the Rogue River.
